Mel Berger CSL Behring Sr. Director, Medical Research Strategy, Global Medical Affairs
Mel Berger, MD, PhD is currently Senior Director of Medical Research strategy at CSL Behring, a leading producer of immunoglobulins and other plasma derived and biosynthetic therapies. He earned his Md and PhD (in Biochemistry) at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and did clinical training in Pediatrics at Boston Childrens’ Hospital and Allergy-Clinical Immunology at NIH. He was Assistant Professor at Water Reed Army Medical Center and the US Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, and then spent 25 years on the faculty of Case Western Reserve as Chief of Allergy-Immunology. He continues to serve as as Adjunct Professor of Pathology and Pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University. He joined CSL Behring 10 years ago and is currently Senior Director of Research and Education in Global Medical Affairs. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed articles plus numerous book chapters and reviews. He has received many received many professional honors and has been elected to the American Society of Clinical Research, and the Society for Pediatric Research, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.
